Introducing Downlink Media
Downlink Media is a media asset management server for video teams whose footage already lives on a NAS. It runs on your own hardware, next to your storage, with no …
Downlink Media indexes the footage already on your shares, makes proxies, and lets your team search, review and share it. Nothing is copied to the cloud, and nothing on your storage is moved.
Measured on our development hardware. Your shares and network will differ.
Your editors already work from the shares. Downlink works from the same place.
Point Downlink at NFS, SMB or local disks. It reads your folders where they are and never copies the originals anywhere.
Browser-friendly proxies for everything, or only for what someone opens. A big archive does not need weeks of encoding first.
Search by name, reel, camera or notes, and filter by codec, frame rate, resolution, duration, rating or keyword.
Frame stepping, JKL shuttle, a running timecode and comments pinned to the frame they are about.
Send a client a link to a library, folder or collection, with an optional password and expiry. Every view is logged and any link can be revoked.
Rename a folder or move a clip to the archive volume. Keywords, comments and proxies go with it.
Everything it doesDownlink runs with Docker Compose on one server: a Linux box next to the NAS, a Mac mini, or the NAS itself.
Register each share as a volume, then group folders into libraries per client or production and give people roles in them.
Downlink scans, makes proxies and keeps up as files arrive. Your team searches, watches, comments and shares from any browser on your network.
Tell us about your storage and your team, and we will show you Downlink running.
